Creative Consortium is a business that makes, among other things, vertical banners that you see attached to light poles. They also create car wraps. You’ve seen them: those advertising vehicles where the whole car is a drivable business card. They print other items (including t-shirts), but I find those first two the most interesting.
The tour of their facility on April 4, 2024 was informative, staff were there to answer questions — plus there was an entertaining surprise element.

AIGA‘s Colorado Springs chapter (“the (national) professional association for (graphic) design”) coordinated the tour. AIGA Colorado Springs consistently plans and hosts monthly meetings (many graphic designers attend, but they state that anyone is welcome amidst efforts to, “build a creative community”). Monthly themes have included, “Creative Workflow,” “Getting Clients” and “Imposter Syndrome.”
AIGA Colorado Springs’ goals as stated online include, “…providing resources and building a creative community in Southern Colorado. The COS satellite started in 2013… We are here to bring creatives from all backgrounds together to share ideas to improve the 719, learn from each other and enjoy our mutual passion for creativity. AIGA COS also works closely with the student community in the Springs providing mentorship, job resources and portfolio building events. We strive to continue to bring quality creative content to Colorado Springs and connect with our community.“
At the Creative Consortium warehouse and offices, I appreciated seeing both the machines and the materials used for various projects, including large-scale printers, different weight fabrics for signage and many-armed presses for printing t-shirts.
And then, unexpectedly scattered throughout the warehouse space, were double-take-inducing, life-size cutouts of actual team members.
That last one was the surprise that I mentioned earlier. I truly kept thinking they were real. Just very quiet.
